Amazon is growing but not making any profit since 2012. It was profitable for some time before, but it was a temporary period in its biography - it was unprofitable in most of the years.
There are two reasons for that:
- E-Commerce is very competitive and margins are low
- Amazon spends every $ margin to reduce prices = it doesn't plan to be profitable
Now, while still being not profitable in E-Commerce it's going to food delivery where situation with margins is even worse...
This tells me that Bezos doesn't care and doesn't plan to care about profitability. He has bigger goal - to become the biggest retail ever, to control every significant segment in retail...
This idealistic goal is good for individual, but investors now on have almost no chances to make any money at Amazon
